Here’s the update on the members’ names that were drawn at last week’s annual picnic of the High Sierra Fly Casters to fish the Pleasant Valley Fly Fishing Preserve “Fishout” on August 1st:
Dick Oswitt, Tom Kriethe, Don Boos, Dottie Sedergren, John Cole, Pam Buell, Todd Wilcks, Mike Phillips, Ron Beller, and Gene Young.
Congratulations to you all! The Preserve will be open to your pleasure on August 1st, and you can start around 6:30 a.m. You may not bring a guest, you may not trade your spot. This is only for those members whose names were drawn. You can make your checks payable to HSFC for $32.50; this will need to be paid before August 1st. You can either drop it off to Liz or give it to Jim Gronski, Treasurer.
REEL ESCAPE
A BIG thank you to all of those members who purchased squares for the REEL ESCAPE – REEL CHANCE DRAWING! The E2 Rod, Reel and Line package was donated by member Joe Bania for this worthy cause. Thank you Joe and Barbara Bania.
A big thank you to Mickey Kriethe who persuaded many of the public to purchase squares during last month’s downtown Wine Walk – it was a great help. And our thanks to Mr. Dick Padgett for cajoling any other members there at the picnic to fill in the remaining squares! Thank you to both of you!
Our thanks to John Cole, whose name was drawn to make the winning cast. He had the patience to put up with our ribbing, blindfolding and spinning in circles to deliver the fly to the lucky square. Our congratulations to Mr. Ed Brannan for winning the rod package. Ed was one of the first persons to purchase a square, and his pick was way up along the border. Casts pretty good eh, Ed?
Reel Escape is scheduled for July 11th at Pleasant Valley. It is for women with ANY type of cancer. If you know someone who you think would benefit from this retreat, please direct them to http://hsfc.us/reel-escape-2010/ where they can find the application and medical release form. Both forms will be needed to be turned no later than July 7th. The committee will be calling members in the coming few weeks to ask for help as River Buddies, emergency, and food prep. In advance, thank you to all of the HSFC members who help with this endeavor.
