Fish Stocking Assistance Requested

NDOW would like some assistance stocking fish above broken dam on Monday July 26th at about 10:00 AM. We would like to gather some volunteers to help hold up the sides of our high tech fish dispersal apparatus (plastic sheeting) to insure that we do not launch some poor unsuspecting trout into the sage brush.

This has become an annual event for the club and it’s always entertaining to see who winds up the wettest!

The manager of the Mason Valley hatchery, Doug Anderson (a.k.a. Abracadabra) reports that they have 1,500 lbs. of fish to go in above the dam and will also be doing a release of fish off the bridge.

July 18th Fish Out – Directions to Litttle Antelope Pack Station

To get to the Little Antelope Pack Station, proceed south of Coleville on 395 to Mill Canyon Road (approximately 2.3 miles). Turn right on Mill Canyon Road, going west. Keep right, dirt road turns into Golden Gate Mine Road. This is a steep gravel road seven miles to the top. Follow the road to the end, Little Antelope Pack Station will be at the end of Golden Gate Mine Road.

Simms Wading Staff Recall

Simms Fishing Products has issued a voluntary recall notice for wading staffs sold between March 1, 2010 and June 17, 2010. According to Simms, the “detent button that allows the staff to be put together may not engage or can become dislodged during use.” If you purchased the affected wading staff, contact the retailer or see http://www.simmsfishing.com/site/wadingstaffrecall.html for more information.

Newsletter Correction – The General Meeting is July 21!

There was an error in the July newsletter: The next general meeting is on July 21, not July 15 as published. Please adjust your calendars accordingly, and we hope to see everyone there!

Reel Escape – Donations Needed

Reel Escape will be held on July 11th and the committee is asking for donations to help us keep within the budget that we’ve set. Any items that are left over from Reel Escape will be used for the other retreats that the High Sierra Fly Casters participate in like Reel Recovery on the 21st of July and Reel Kids – Real Living on August 7th or club fishouts.

The following is a list of items that are needed:

These items can be dropped off at The Angler’s Edge for storage until the 11th anytime from now until the 10th of July:

Chips (potato)
Flats of bottled water
Canned soda
Iced tea
Canned fruit juice

Perishable dropped off on the 9th or 10th of July:

Bananas
Tangerines (tangelos)
Grapes
Cantaloupe or watermelon
