Shasta Trinity Fly Fishers 3rd Annual Spey Fest

The Shasta Trinity Fly Fishers is holding its 3rd Annual Spey Fest on Saturday, June 9, 2012 on the “Barge Hole” Gravel Bar on the Sacramento River near Anderson, California (just south of Redding). This event will feature spey and switch rod casting instructions, lessons, fly tying, and much more. The event will be attended by several suppliers. Attendees will have a chance to test several different types, models and makes of spey and switch rods, as well as reels and spey and switch fly lines.

Truckee River Fishout Postponed!

Due to the rapid rise in the Truckee River’s flows over the last couple of days, our Fish Master has decided to postpone the fishout scheduled for this Sunday, March 18. The flows are slightly over 1,000 c.f.s. this morning; it’s up 400 c.f.s in just the last 24 hours.

The tentative backup date is Sunday, March 25. Keep an eye on your email inbox – we’ll send a notification with updated information as next Sunday approaches.

April General Meeting Speaker: Greg Vinci

Greg Vinci, noted regional fly fishing writer and photographer, will be the speaker for the April 11 meeting of the High Sierra Fly Casters, to be held at the Elks Lodge, 1227 Kimmerling Rd. in Gardnerville. Greg has had articles appearing in Northwest and Southwest Fly Fishing, Fly Fisherman, and other fly fishing periodicals. He has also served as a fishing buddy at the Reel Recovery 2011 Pleasant Valley Retreat.

Greg’s topic will be “Fishing the Eastern Sierra”, a topic always dear to our collective hearts. The meeting will begin at 7:15 p.m., preceded by a social 3/4 hour, and followed by post-meeting camaraderie. Please join us for our first meeting at the new Elks Club facility.
