We highly recommend you attend an introduction to fly fishing clinic. A number of organizations, including our club, offer free clinics in our area! Pre-registration is required for all clinics.
High Sierra Fly Casters - we offer Catch a Fish events (half day programs) as an initial introduction to the sport as well more in-depth introductory programs. Check our calendar to see what is currently scheduled. If nothing, contact us at education@hsfc.us for more information.

Carson Fly Fishing Club -occasionally offers free classes.
We also have our Get Hooked on Fly Fishing series of clinics aimed at helping active fly fishers become proficient at catching fish. Check our calendar to see what's happening.
There's also tons of educational videos available which can get you started. Note that some of these videos might be made in hopes of selling you stuff, stuff you don't necessarily need. We recommend beginners consult with one of our mentors for advice on what, if anything, you should acquire. The club has beginners kits you can borrow to get started.
Orvis Fly Fishing - Fly Fishing for Beginneers is a fairly comprehensive play list. Orvis also offer videos on more advanced topics.
Practice! Fish as often as you can, especially with others you can learn from. Attend our fish outs! Ask for mentoring!
